When you buy new products now a days do you look to see if it Eco-friendly? Has the concept that we all need to do our part to save the planet, has that sunk into your every day thoughts yet? Are you one of the growing number of people that now purchase organic fashion? You read that right. Eco-friendly organic fashion is the wave of the future and as soon as technologies catch up to the demand you will start to see more and more organic fashions in your local clothing stores.
Just this past year during the week of earth day the Banana Republic stores went public with a whole organic collection of clothing. They did not stop there either they announced their goal to be a completely Eco-friendly clothing store with three objectives. Not only to have organic fashions but Eco-friendly packaging and stores as well.
Now I realize that the Banana Republic is more of an upscale store to some none the less they are in the main stream of society. Eco-fashions are the wave of the of the future and most fashion designers are already on board with this trend. Just like every other business that is trying to stay a float in this recessed economy the fashion world is going organic and going green.
Just like the automotive industry is moving to green technologies as fast as they can so to is the fashion industry. Like I said the demand is clearly there and at this point we are just waiting on the technologies to make organic clothes at a cost effective rate to be in place. It’s such a new demand that naturally the prices are going to be on the high end albeit not for long. Big box retailers like Wal-mart and Target have started bringing in more Eco-fashion lines to their shelves.

A fad, not at all! Being green is a lifestyle and the way of the future! Great post thanks for sharing!!
I think it's great that these companies are going green, but I think more importantly, that they go green in all aspects, including shipping, manufacturing, packaging, etc., because all of these have a big impact on our resources, especially in the fashion industry when the turnover rate gets faster and faster.
